5 Essential Benefits of PCI DSS Certification for Your Business
This blog post explores the role of cloud-managed SD-WAN in optimizing multi-site network management, highlighting the Mako System as a prime example of this technology in action.
Extend your network to outdoor locations with challenging environmental conditions. This wireless access point is rated as dustproof and waterproof with an ingress protection code of IP67.
Extend your network to outdoor locations with challenging environmental conditions. This wireless access point is rated as dustproof and waterproof with an ingress protection code of IP67.
The fully cloud-managed Mako 4550 combines a weatherproof IP67 rating with high-speed Wi-Fi 6 (dual-band 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax) technology. The 4000 Series brings the security, performance and cloud management of the Mako System to streamlined, cost-effective Mako devices with a smaller footprint that allows for deployment as an access point (AP). These are industrial-strength devices with no moving parts, designed to meet the challenging requirements and environments of distributed enterprises. The Mako 4550 is ideal for extending Wi-Fi range to outdoor locations with extreme temperatures, wind, dust, and precipitation.
Wi-Fi 6 not only improves communication speed and range by using the latest hardware, it also utilizes an array of new features to improve communication efficiency and security, resulting in a better experience for dense networks, increased signal reliability, reduced power consumption, and enhanced encryption options. This new standard directly addresses the explosion of device density in all wireless environments, from small home networks to huge sports arenas.
Like all Mako devices, the Mako 4550 access point is managed via our cloud-based network management and monitoring application, the Mako Central Management System (CMS), part of our proprietary, PCI-certified network platform, the Mako System.
The Mako 4550 is designed for deployment as an AP that extends your Wi-Fi network to exterior locations where weather and environment are a concern, such as a filling station forecourt or a dining patio. Its ingress protection code of IP67 means the device is rated as dustproof as well as waterproof for up to 30 minutes in freshwater at depths up to 1 meter.
The Mako 4550 is managed from the Mako CMS, which is available to authorized users 24/7, making remote management, monitoring and support simple and straightforward. Using a patented communications protocol, the Mako device securely connects to the Mako CMS. Mako devices can only be configured from the Mako CMS for maximum security. These changes take place in real-time, without the need for an on-site visit or to locally flash the device.
The Mako 4550 is ideal for connecting remote workers, IoT applications or outdoor retail locations to head offices, data centers or third-party application providers easily and securely. This AP can be used in tandem with a Mako security gateway to join a Mako VPN Cloud, which supports circuit, hardware and geographic redundancy and allows the AP to connect to fast, reliable VPNs. Using Mako VPN Cloud technology, remote locations can be linked by encrypted tunnels in seconds without requiring static IP addresses.
The entire Mako System—including the Mako CMS, all Mako devices and firmware, and our proprietary wireless networking technology—is end‐to‐end PCI DSS certified, providing peace of mind and security for businesses that accept credit cards. Mako’s PCI-certified enterprise templates facilitate bulk security configuration of Mako devices, and Mako’s PCI-certified wireless networking technology is a perfect fit for tablet‐based POS systems.
The Mako 4550 features Wi-Fi 6 (dual‐band 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax), the latest wireless standard, for customer hotspots or general business use and supports up to four wireless SSIDs per frequency band. The Mako System’s PCI DSS certification covers wireless communications, so your Wi-Fi networks can be configured for high security.
Like all Mako devices, the 4550 allows for zero-touch deployment by automatically receiving device-specific configuration information from the Mako CMS via the Cloud. Remote sites can get up and running quickly, easily and securely.
